The Rheingau region, where the Villa Gutenberg vineyards are located, extends from the Mainspitze near Hochheim to the Middle Rhine. This small growing region that encompasses an area of around 3,000 hectares of vineyards is protected from the chilly winds by the Taunus Mountains immediately to the north. Most of the Rheingau's vineyards are situated on south-facing slopes between the mountains and the Rhine River, which provide excellent growing conditions in these northerly latitudes for the vines. For years was regarded as Germany noblest wine region. Various soil types from clay to quartz, loam and loess add complexity to the resulting wine.
