A key trend in recent years has been the introduction of many new alternative Oceania White Wine varieties, making for New Wave stunning wines. The most dynamic wine nation in the new world, quick to react to consumer weariness of oaky tropical whites and stand-a-spoon-up reds. Cooler sites like southern Victoria and Margaret River continue to rise in prominence, while winemakers in the traditional hotbeds of hulking Shiraz have reined in style. Our range captures the regional and varietal diversity of this vast country and the great strides made in quality. Jim Barry Wines Certain names resonate strongly within Australian wine history, and Jim Barry is one of them. Jim Barry’s drive helped shape South Australia’s Clare Valley as a benchmark producer of world-class Riesling and cemented it as one of Australia’s premier wine regions. Jim was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating with a degree in oenology from the prestigious Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1947. Founded in 1959, Jim Barry Wines is still family-owned, with three generations of Roseworthy graduates. Jim’s son Peter became managing director in 1985, and today, Peter’s children Tom, Sam and Olivia are the winemakers, commercial managers and brand ambassadors, respectively. Voted ‘2020 Winery of the Year' at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards, they produce highly acclaimed, award-winning wines. Paringa Estate Located in the heart of Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula, Paringa Estate was founded in 1984 by Lindsay McCall when he purchased a derelict orchard. Lindsay’s passion and fascination with wine began in the mid-1970s, and by the mid-1980s, he decided to follow his dream by establishing Paringa Estate. The first vintage was in 1988 with just three tonnes of fruit, and over the years, it has grown considerably, with production now at 16,000 cases. Paringa Estate is one of Australia's most highly awarded boutique wineries, regularly winning trophies for its Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The collection includes a stunning and precise Pinot Gris, as Lindsay says anywhere capable of growing great Pinot Noir should be capable of growing great Pinot Gris. The wines pay homage to Burgundy in style, and James Halliday says Paringa Estate is “one of the best, if not the best, wineries on the Peninsula”. Xanadu Xanadu is a true pioneer of the Margaret River region, producing fresh and vibrant coastal wines. The estate was established by Dr John Lagan, an Irishman, who arrived in Margaret River in 1968. Captivated by the region's pioneering spirit, along with his wife Eithne, he planted his first vines in 1977. Inspired by the beauty of the setting, they named the property after the mysterious, idyllic paradise in Samuel Coleridge’s poem, Kubla Khan: Xanadu. True to its poetic namesake, Xanadu is in an idyllic setting, where 65 hectares of vines flourish on the original estate. Passionate and dedicated winemaker Glenn Goodall joined in 1999, combining intuitive winemaking and deep respect for the sustainably cultivated vineyard- a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia- he produces world-class wines of distinction. Glenn was awarded Halliday's 'Best Winemaker of the Year Australia 2023'; in 2018, Xanadu won the Jimmy Watson Memorial trophy.
