Corking Wines – A Family Affair
Based in the historic city of York, David and Yvonne launched Corking Wines online as a way of delivering superior wine to drinkers across the country.
After many years in the corporate sector, the couple decided that it was time to share their pleasure for fine wine with a wider audience.
Children of farming families, they understand the pressures faced by independent winemakers and vineyards, and the importance of supporting these producers in their work.
David and Yvonne are keen to help drinkers explore the numerous wines available beyond the supermarket shelf, and show that the industry doesn’t have to be pretentious or intimidating.
As David says “we believe that good wine is a matter of personal taste. Specialist wine should always be enjoyable to drink. That is the most important factor when we are choosing our wine. Great wine at a price that suits both the vineyard and our customer.”
A Classical Wine List to Explore
Where better to start than with an elegant Burgundy from the heart of Meursault. Farmed using sustainable agricultural methods, the Rene Monnier Beaune 1er Cru Toussaints is the epitome of red Burgundy production in France.
On a special occasion, you can’t beat the romance of sparkling champagne. Bursting with wild strawberry, raspberries and rose petal, the award-winning Perrier Jouet Blason Rose is the perfect drink for toasting a dream wedding or birthday celebration.
In contrast, a perfectly blended Bordeaux makes the ideal choice for a relaxed gathering with friends. Try the Château de Rouillac Blanc Pessac-Leognan for a sharp, lemony nose followed by a refreshing hint of grapefruit, apricot and spice.
Whatever the event, we can find you a high-end fine wine that will add a touch of class to the celebrations.
Unique Wines from Unexpected Places
To complement our traditional collection, we love to find wines that are new and exciting, such as our choice of fresh tasting Japanese white from the Yamanashi province, or mellow Lebanese red from the Bekaa Valley.
Back in Europe, Greek wine producers in Santorini are making waves with a wild ferment assyrtiko. Made using grapes from one of the oldest vines in existence, this impressive wine has a smoky nose with a hint of salt on the palate. Described by David as “Chablis on steroids” this is one of our favourite specialist wines.
For an impressive sparkling wine with a lively, fruity palate, we can offer you the Torrontes from Matias Riccitelli. Son of renowned winemaker Jorge Riccitelli, Matias has experience in some of the most prestigious wineries in Argentina and is now seeking to express the full potential of Argentine terroir with his dynamic new project.
Putting the Customer First
At Corking Wines, outstanding service is about more than sourcing the best wine for the customer. From experimenting new ways to protect your bottles in transit, to carefully managing you're fine wine in bond – every customer transaction is handled with great care and expertise.

Experience You Can Trust
Following a long career in the corporate sector, David now combines dedication and knowledge for fine wine with his previous experience in international trading.
In establishing Corking Wines, David realised a lifetime passion for buying and trading fine wine. Over time, David and Yvonne cultivated strong relationships with experts across the industry, from reputable merchants dealing in wine futures to independent winemakers and their tasting representatives.
The transient nature of the specialist wine industry requires a dedication to sourcing, and David is always on the search to find you the latest fine wine available. All of this enables Corking Wines to bring you award-winning red, white and sparkling wines, confident of the standards and provenance behind every bottle.
Carefully Chosen Suppliers
We only work with suppliers who share our commitment to consistently high standards, allowing us to provide you with the professional care and attention that you deserve.
Located in areas with renowned terroir and a long history of wine production, many vineyards are blending state of the art technology and traditional processes to bring you impressive, award-winning wine. In regions with a newly emerging wine culture, we buy from vineyards that are committed to taking their place on the world stage.
From biodynamic agriculture to organic farming techniques, many of our suppliers care about their impact on the land, working hard to protect the region for future generations. Others provide clean, fairly paid employment in areas of poverty and deprivation.
You will never find such specialist fine wine on the supermarket shelf. At Corking Wines we deal directly with the supplier to bring you exclusive, high-quality wine that is always a joy to drink. Discover our list of recommended suppliers here.
Safe Delivery throughout the UK
All of the wine found on our website can be safely shipped throughout the United Kingdom.
Corking Wines hand packs your purchase before sending through a specialist glass courier.
We take care to choose the most appropriate form of protection for your individual purchase. Sometimes the original methods are still the best, which is why your wine may arrive in a traditional wooden box.
However, we regularly look at effective new ways to protect your wine in transit. From inflatable sleeves to environmentally friendly packaging, you can be sure that we are working hard to get your wine to you on time and in one piece.
