Fourchaume is a 1er Cru vineyard in Chablis. This vineyard has a similar exposure to the Chablis Grand Cru vineyards which lie across the Fontenay Valley, to which Fourchaume wines are often compared. The grapes come from a parcel which includes some 60-year-old vines. The double Guyot trained vines are planted at a density of 5,700 vines per hectare and yield a maximum of 55 hectolitres per hectare. The soils are made up of kimmeridgian, rich in clay and limestone with fossilised sea shells; and are renowned for producing fine wines with mineral characteristics. Domaine Jean Goulley’s vineyard is certified organic.
