The finest Sangiovese grapes were carefully selected from the estate's hillside vineyard and picked at their peak maturity level. The vines have an average age of 15 years and are grown in medium textured clay soils, yielding approximately eight tonnes per hectare. Umberto Cesari was one of the first wineries in Emilia Romagna to be awarded the SQNPI, the national Italian quality scheme for Integrated Production. This sustainability certificate recognises the use integrated production techniques in the cultivation of the vineyards, which are tended with knowledge, patience and
