Here the Humbolt Current, which pulls cold air all the way up the Pacific Coast from Antartica, abruptly turns inland, bringing refreshing Pacific air and strong winds up into the otherwise warm hillside vineyards. The result is extraordinary diurnal shift and the longest ripening season in California, making for grapes that achieve incredible levels of complexity and ripeness whilst retaining wonderful acidity.
