The grapes come from the appellation of Menetou-Salon, which is situated in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. The terroir is characterised by marl sediments dating from the Jurassic period, which is known locally as Marne de Saint Doulchard. The region is influenced by the northern, cool climate, resulting in lively wines from grapes with characteristic high levels of acidity. Domaine Gerard Millet is certified by Haute Valeur Environmentale and the vineyards are managed sustainably. The vineyard is carefully monitored throughout the season; the soil is tilled to bring out the distinctive features of the terroir and ensure the health and vigour of the vine, while encouraging beneficial biodiversity. Careful canopy management takes place including leaf thinning, which encourages the grapes to reach optimal ripeness and concentrates the flavours in the berries.
