The grapes come from the appellation of Menetou-Salon, which is situated in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. The terroir is characterised by marl sediments dating from the Jurassic period, which is known locally as Marne de Saint Doulchard. The northern, cool climate influences the region, resulting in lively wines from grapes with characteristic high levels of acidity. Domaine Gerard Millet is certified by Haute Valeur Environmental, and the vineyards are managed sustainably. The vineyard is carefully monitored throughout the season; the soil is tilled to bring out the terroir's distinctive features and ensure the vine's health and vigour while encouraging beneficial biodiversity. Careful canopy management occurs, including leaf thinning, which enables the grapes to reach optimal ripeness and concentrates the flavours in the berries.
