Winery | The Favorita grapes come from the Roero subregion of the DOC Langhe Favorita appellation. Roero is characterised by rugged and often steep slopes that are cut by rivers and small bodies of water. Long ago, it was a coastal area, and this can still be seen in the large presence of sand mixed with limestone that forms the soils, with the presence of fossilised shells. The soil in Roero is generally younger than the one found in the nearby Langhe. It is softer and more water absorbent, characteristics that imbue the wines with natural finesse. The grapes come from a 0.42-hectare sandy, calcareous plot, situated around the ideal elevation of 250 metres above sea level. The vines have an average age of eight years and are Guyot trained. They are cultivated with minimal intervention; treatments are as limited as possible and minimal canopy management takes place. Early morning harvesting takes place by hand into small baskets to retain freshness. |
