  • Region Sicilia DOC
  • ABV 14%

  • Complex bouquet of banana, pineapple, citrus, candied fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and white chocolate. The palate is very rich and intense with a serious mineral seam. The large Regaleali estate, high in the central Sicilian hills, has been in the hands of the noble Tasca family since 1830. Ever since the property has been run according to the best principles of the agricultural aristocracy: with one eye firmly on quality and the other on experimentation. Rich with candied orange and pistachio cream. This is a full-bodied white with pretty accents of Sicilian wide-leaf oregano and rosemary that give extra lift and energy to the bouquet.

Our history in Sicily is written in the land that we care for and have handed down for eight generations. With the profound respect we owe to our tradition, and always looking towards the future. Over the years, Capofaro has been added to the mother estate, Regaleali, in Salina, in the Aeolian archipelago; Tascante on Etna; the historic Whitaker estate on the ancient Mozia island; and Sallier de La Tour, in Monreale. In a precise project of valorization of the autochthonous varieties and of the territories with the highest wine-growing vocation. Each productive nucleus has its own marked personality, and narrates an always different Sicily. Next to the vineyards grow olive trees, wheat fields and almond trees. In the vegetable gardens, in the pastures, in the orchards, men and women work to help us keep pace with the seasons and give birth to the best products of Sicily. Each with its own character, each with its own rhythms. Today, for us the biggest challenge is to preserve these places and leave them intact to our children, in a sign of constant attention to the protection of every single ecosystem.

The San Francesco vineyard was planted in 1985 by Lucio Tasca on the lower part of the slope, where the ground is more fertile than the average level of Regaleali soils thanks to the deeper active layer and greater coolness caused by the lower amount of rainwater drainage. Some of the clonal material comes from Burgundy. The plot extends for about 5 hectares, with a planting interval of 2.60 metres by 1.20 metres (3,200 plants per hectare), at an altitude of between 520 and 532 metres. The substrate of origin is made up of clayey-sandy sediments, the texture is loamy-clayey, slightly calcareous, with a slightly alkaline reaction (pH 8.1). It is very thick soil, and well structured, but the roots do not grow more than 70 centimetres deep. The soil has a normal amount of organic matter and is rich in minerals, magnesium and potassium in particular, with a high phosphorus content. The vines are grown on espaliers, with a double Guyot training system.
