- Intense flavors of ripe peaches and apricots flow seamlessly into a midpalate of stem ginger and hazelnut praline, all cut through by a laser-like seam of acidity. Aszu berries are macerated for two days until swollen, followed by a gentle press. Fermentation takes place in new Hungarian oak barrels; a slow process that can last up to two months. The aging process is completed in 136 and 2200-liter barrels for two to three years and bottled for an additional year. Citrus, peach, and apricot aromas characterize the nose of this Aszu 5 puttonyos 2013; Rich, and intense on the palate with a long aftertaste of orange blossom and spices.

| Winery | In 1993, the Alvarez family, of Vega Sicilia fame, established Bodegas Tokaj Oremus. The vineyards are spread over more than a dozen different hillside sites, of which ten were classified ‘primæ classis’ in 1803. Here the group can produce exceptional white wines, both dry Furmints and sweet Aszú styles, from 3 puttonyos up to the mythical Eszencia. All present the region’s unique combination of succulence and tang, and together showcase the amazing versatility of Furmint grown in this historic location. |
