- A splendid amber colour with brick-red tints. The nose reveals complex aromas of dried fruits, walnuts, currants, honey, and a hint of spice. It is exceptionally rich on the palate, with notes of bitter oranges and wild apricots. An astonishing wine with an exceptional length and a praline aroma finish.
Harvest took place by hand when the grapes reached optimal maturity. Destemming and crushing were followed by a short maceration period of three to five days. Fortification stopped the fermentation and retained some of the wine's natural sweetness. The wine was left to age for two years in a barrel.

Winery | The Rivesaltes appellation takes its name from the town of Rivesaltes, which in Catalan means 'High Banks'. The plots are situated in Salses next to Rivesaltes, in the Roussillon region, in a soil mainly composed of granitic and gneissic sands, brown or black schists and occasionally of red limestone soils. Gerard Bertrand is among the most outstanding winemakers in the South of France. A biodynamic pioneer, he owns numerous estates among the most prestigious crus of Languedoc-Roussillon. Formerly the IWC Red Winemaker of the Year and winner of Wine Enthusiast‘s European Winery of the Year, Gerard has been cited as the “King of the Languedoc” among critics. Clos d’Ora is considered his ‘first growth of the Languedoc’ and Gerard Bertrand’s masterpiece. It took him and his team 17 years to create this wine. Exceptional terroir, scrupulous berry selection, and a biodynamic approach and philosophy result in a dense, textured, smooth, and long wine. |
