- A silky and light-bodied Volnay with enticing aromas of sage and plums. An elegant palate shows liquorice, wild strawberry, and raspberry tones that evolve into a lingering cassis finish. Superbly fine tannins give a classy, understated mouthfeel, leading to a lingering finish.
The grapes were meticulously sorted to ensure only the highest quality fruit was vinified. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. The wine was transferred into French oak casks, of which 25% were new, with bâtonnage of the fine lees adding complexity and texture until the completion of malolactic conversion. Racked after 10 months in a barrel, the wine was gently fined and filtered before being estate bottled by gravity.
This is a silky, light-bodied Volnay with liquorice, wild strawberry, and raspberry tones. Superbly fine tannins give a classy, understated mouthfeel with a lingering and elegant finish.

Winery | The Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1936 and are low-yielding, producing a rich, concentrated style of Volnay. Grown in the Premier Cru-named plot of Clos des Chenes, the vines are cultivated according to "la lutte raisonnee," using sustainable agricultural methods and reducing the amount of chemicals to respect the land and its environment. The soils are predominantly limestone and clay. Domaine René Monnier is a leading and sought-after producer in Meursault's heart. With over 18 hectares of vineyard in the most prestigious Crus of the Côte de Beaune, Domaine René Monnier is one of the largest privately owned domains in the region. Founded in 1723, the domain is now in the hands of the tenth generation, with all the wines being skilfully made by Xavier Monnot. Domaine René Monnier's white wines are fresh and stylish, avoiding excessive use of oak, while the reds are the epitome of fine Burgundy, demonstrating this house's balanced, silky style. |
