A new Cabernet from a major winemaking talent. For many years, the head winemaker of Daou Vineyards, Anthony Versochi, has finally decided to start making some wines under his name and label. In this, he’s been lucky to have the full support of his mentor Danny (and therefore the extensive use of the superb Daou facilities – not to be sniffed at!) I met Anthony in May at the top of Daou Mountain. Sitting in a beautiful tasting room with views across half of Paso Robles and one of his superb bottles in front of us really brought the wine in the glass to light, a perfect distillation of that glorious, rolling countryside studded with vineyards and the other marks of careful viticulture.
