- A remarkable Brunello wine was crafted. This Brunello boasts rich, mature fruit flavours interspersed with notes of dried flowers, leather, and earthy undergrowth, characteristic of a well-aged Brunello. It exemplifies a beautiful balance, with a full-bodied texture and a luxuriously long, opulent finish. The year presented challenges, beginning with a cold, wet winter and a hot, dry summer. Fortunately, heavy rainfall arrived towards the end of the summer, salvaging the vintage. Despite lower yields stemming from the dry summer, the vintage was awarded Consorzio’s top five-star rating, highlighting its exceptionally high fruit quality.

Produced only in exceptional vintages, the carefully selected fruit was vinified in temperature-controlled 100-hectare stainless steel vats. Fermentation occurred with selected yeasts at approximately 24 to 26 °C, followed by a 10-day maceration at 28 to 30 °C to extract the colour, flavour, and tannins. Daily tastings ensured the desired levels of extraction were achieved. The wine was aged in 20 to 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak vats for 36 months, followed by six years of bottle ageing.
A rich, fine, and complex Brunello with ripe fruit layered with dried flowers, leather, and undergrowth is typical of a fine-aged Brunello. It is beautifully balanced, with a full-bodied texture and an exquisitely long and opulent finish.

Winery | The Pinino estate vineyards are located north of Montalcino, embedded like a natural amphitheatre into the beautiful and famous hillside of Montosoli. This distinctive geographical location has become known as one of the region's best areas for wine production. The Sangiovese vines are grown in the northwest and north-eastern facing vineyards at 310 to 320 metres. The lower temperatures allow the grapes to express their finesse. The Riserva comes from the oldest plots on the vineyard, where the soils are rich in clay, galestro (a rocky, clay-schistous soil with a flaky texture and free-draining properties) and limestone. The vines are trained according to a spurred cordon method. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably and are certified by Agriqualit; copper and sulphur are the only treatments employed, and the grapes are hand-picked. Each vineyard is divided into micro-sections, and the vinification is tailored to each section. |
