- The nose displays fresh mulberries interweaved with blackberry compote, cherry, and violet. Quite lifted and vibrant, the nose also hints at a little sweetness in the form of toffee apple. The palate reveals a wine of subtle power, showing an array of dark fruits, cacao bean, orange zest, star anise, and hints of black pepper. The palate is driven, beautifully layered, and finishes with bright energetic acidity.
The grapes are sourced from vineyard plots, planted on sandy loam over claw soils, and were harvested between the 6th of March and the 9th of April
The bunches were gently destemmed, using a state-of-the-art vibrating destemer. Folloming a ten-day maceration period, fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks fermentation in barrels,
The nose shows dark cherry, blackberry, and plum combined with toasted French oak and hints of plum and raisin the the palate reveals layers of. red berry fruits, with 1ne tannins and a refreshing finish
The nose reveals an array of berries, violet, and spice, followed by intense flavours of berry, cherry, anise and dark chocolate on the palate. The sensitive use of oak is evident in the mouth-filling tannins and the finish is lengthy, fresh and lifted by notes of graphite and cedar.

Winery | Woodlands now has an annual production of 12000 cases, specialising in red wine, and remains owned and operated by the Watson family. In 2010 David and Heather were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Margaret River Wine Industry Association. In 2016 David & Heather were the joint recipients of the prestigious Jack Mann Memorial Medal. The medal is awarded annually to those who have made a significant contribution to the WA Wine Industry. Woodlands premier wine, the Cabernet Sauvignon, is still made from the same planting originally made by David and Heather in 1973. Woodlands Cabernet Sauvignon continues to garner awards and critical acclaim, including being listed in the Langton Classification of Fine Wines. |
