Intense red cherry color, clean and bright. Ripe black fruit stands out, as well as hints of plum and black licorice, with a background of vanilla and other sweet spices and fine toasted notes. Smooth entry, with hints of black fruit and a marked structure. Long, persistent finish.

Fincas Valdemacuco is the first foray outside Rioja for Bodegas Valdemar, who have poured over a century of winemaking experience into this new venture from Spain’s other great Tempranillo-producing region. The grapes come from selected vineyards in the Nava de Roa district near the Duero River itself, and offer a distinctive clarity and freshness of fruit, which sensitive winemaking and a brief passage in oak barrels have served to enhance.
