The Pinino estate vineyards are located in the north of Montalcino, embedded like a natural amphitheatre into the beautiful and famous hillside of Montosoli. The grapes for this wine come exclusively from the 4-hectare single vineyard of Vigna Pinino, where the oldest vines on the estate are planted at between 310 and 320 metres above sea level. The vineyards face north-west and north-east, and the lower temperatures encourage the grapes to express finesse. The Vigna Pinino vineyard produces an elegant expression of Sangiovese, producing elegant, medium-bodied wines with wonderful longevity. The 40-year old vines have very deep roots which delve into the clay, scheletro and limestone soils in search of nutrients. The vines are trained according to a spurred cordon method, resulting in good quality fruit. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably and are certified by Agriqualit copper and sulphur are the only treatments employed. The grapes are exclusively hand-picked at optimal maturity.

The Pinino winery is based in the picturesque town of Montalcino in Tuscany and has a long winemaking history, dating back to 1874. Since 1950, Pinino has been inscribed in the Brunello register of winemakers, and in 2003, Spaniard Max Hernandez and
Austrian Andrea Gamon pursued their passion for producing quality wines and purchased the estate. For Max – whose father had been a winemaker in Toro – it also signified an adventure leading him back to his family’s roots. Together they have invested in the estate, they quadrupled the cultivation area to 16 hectares with the addition of the Canchi vineyard and transformed the estate, producing world-class wines. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably, following the Agriqualità standards. This family-run winery produces award-winning wines with incredible structure, elegance and great longevity.
