Renowned for producing world-class German White Wines, crisp and elegant whilst maintaining excellent quality and style. Schloss Johannisberg The legendary Schloss Johannisberg is steeped in history. The vineyards were planted on the orders of the Roman Emperor Charlemagne. Planted solely with Riesling grapes in 1720, Schloss Johannisberg was the world's first Riesling Estate and plays a significant part in wine history. It was here in 1775 that the Spätlese quality was discovered using late picked grapes suffering from "noble rot". Following this discovery, in 1787 the estate gave Auslese, Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese to the wine world. Schloss Johannisberg is a single vineyard designation in its own right and one of a handful of German vineyards that does not have to display a village name on the label. Weingut Anton Finkenauer In 1925 the winery of Anton and Carl Finkenauer was divided as the two brothers chose to follow their own direction. Since then, there have been two wineries with the same name situated in close proximity. Weingut Anton Finkenauer is a family company, which today is managed by Hans-Anton Finkenauer, offering well made and attractively priced wines with an annual volume of 60,000 bottles. The Anton Finkenauer estate comprises approximately nine hectares of vineyard in the Kreuznach locations of Brückes, Forst, Hinkelstein, Kahlenberg, Osterhöll and Rosenberg. 60% of the vineyard is planted with Riesling; the remainder is planted with Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe and Pinot Blanc. Weingut Köster Wolf Two generations have been working together on this estate for almost twenty years. Heidrun and Manfred Wolf had taken over their parents estate and now have passed on the baton to their son, Claus Wolf and his wife Barbel who have both studied oenology through different routes. As a family they pride themselves on the quality and integrity of their estate wines.
