Winery | The Nahe region is one of the smaller German wine regions, named after the Nahe River which joins the Rhein at Bingen. Legal status for Nahe only came with the 1971 German wine law. The viticultural area is characterized by dramatic topography with steep slopes and craggy outcrops of metamorphic rock. The region boasts a wide variety of soil types which allows it to offer delicate complexity. The undulating topography here creates varied microclimates; the vineyards found close to the Nahe River benefit from its temperature-regulating influence which helps to prevent frost. The climate is characterized by low rainfall, ample sunshine hours, and mild to cool temperatures. |
