Morande Adventure Vigno Carignan 2018

  • Grape Cabernet Sauvignon 80% Cabernet Franc 14% Carignan 6%
  • Country Chile
  • Region Maipo Valley
  • ABV 13.5 %
  • Producer Morande
  • Case size 6/ 75cl
  • It's a very intense purplish red. Aroma: pronounced aromas of red and sour cherries and black plums with subtle floral notes of violets, coffee, and dark chocolate. It has tremendous character, with juicy red fruit recalling cherries and raspberries, light floral notes, and toasted oak. The structure is young and tense, with great persistence, concentration, and a tannic structure that promises a long life ahead.

Located in San Bernardo, at the feet of the Cerro Chena in the heart of the Maipo Valley, the vineyard that gives life to our House of Morande features a perfect warm temperate Mediterranean climate with dry and long summers. Its soils are part of the Maipo River's third alluvial terrace, characterized by extended layers of gravel and clay. Its loamy texture allows the roots to develop deep, a peculiarity that greatly determines the quality of Maipo's great wines. Planted in high-density, with 7,000 plants per hectare, the vineyard training system is double Guyot, with its vines orientated north-south direction at 22.5 West.

Morandé was founded in 1996 by Pablo Morandé and found immediate recognition both domestically and abroad, being recognised as ‘Winery of the Year’ by Wine Enthusiast magazine in 1999 and ‘Vineyard of the Year’ by Wine and Spirits Magazine in 2002. Morandé is now part of Grupo Belén, one of Chile’s largest and most successful wine groups. Pablo Morandé remains involved in the winemaking. Morandé are true pioneers – they were the first family to develop the Casablanca D.O., recognising the fantastic potential of this cool-climate wine region. They also revived old viticultural regions such as Maulé and Itata, working with old dry-farmed bush vines and unconventional varieties such as Carignan, País, Cinsault, Grenache and Malbec. All of the wines are produced with grapes from Morandé’s vineyards. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by seeking the right terroir for each grape variety, and with significant vineyard holdings, they are well-placed to achieve this.
