  • 100% of this wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. It's a unique blend with complex fruit aromas, including blackberries and raspberries, along with hints of exotic spice, mint, and floral tones. The palate has great structure and smoothness, with multiple layers of flavour that leads to a long, balanced finish. Agrelo is known for producing aromatic and structured Malbecs. The grapes for this wine come from our estate in the heart of this terroir, which is known for its deep, alluvial, sandy-loam soil, typical of the region.

Bodega Norton has five vineyards spread over the main terroirs of the province of Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, all within a privileged zone known as the First Zone for the quality of its grapes. It is not just geographical location that influences the quality of our wines but the age of our vines. Their average age is around 30 years, but many hectares are planted with 80-year-old vines. It presents a deep, dark, ruby-red colour. With intense ripe fruit aromas, such as blackberries and raspberries, combined with a subtle spiced note. It is a wine with great structure, granted by the intense fruit and spiced character with an outstanding lingering finish.

In 1885, the Buenos Aires to Mendoza railway opened, cementing the significance of this emerging wine-growing region high in the Andean foothills. One visitor to Mendoza, an English engineer called Edmund Norton, was so struck by the beauty and potential he saw there that he established a winery bearing his name and 1895 planted the first vines in Mendoza’s Lujan de Cuyo district. Almost a century later, Gernot Langes-Swarovski was similarly struck by Mendoza and its vineyards; in 1989, he acquired Bodega Norton and transformed it into the world-renowned winery it is today. Both men rightly recognized the special nature of the area. The altitude moderates the temperature at 900-1,100 meters while exposing the vines to more ultraviolet light. The result is whites packed with a vibrant flavour, good natural acidity, and well-structured, food-friendly reds.
