Made from the very best section, the heart, of the excellent ‘Coteaux Nobles’ vineyard located on the Sonoma Coast, this unique wine is also named after the typical seductive character of the Pinot Noir grape. It is handcrafted by using classical Burgundian winemaking techniques, the ‘Charming Character’ or ‘Joli Cœur.’
This Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is made from the best section of the ‘Coteaux Nobles’ vineyard, located on the eastern slope of the second ridge from the Pacific Ocean. This great and beautiful (Joli) plot is at the heart of the ranch, hence the name of the wine. Handcrafted using classical Burgundian winemaking techniques, we named this age-worthy wine after the French expression, which references the intriguing and attractive character of Pinot Noir. Intense red and black cherry and raspberry coulis flavors fill the palate, with a rich, earthy, concentrated finish. Will age gracefully for decades. An intense and complex bouquet of red cherry and blackberry is intermixed with notes of minerals (graphite, wet river rocks), liquorice, fresh blond tobacco, and a hint of fresh blackcurrant. Full-bodied, the palate is reminiscent of the nose, with a richly tannic yet round frame and with outstanding finesse. Our unique estate lies on the western foothills just north of St. Helena. Shallow loamy topsoil, rocky alluvial subsoil, and total sun exposure create ideal conditions for our Cabernet Sauvignon vines. |
