- A concentrated wine with aromas of deep, wild cherry fruits and spicy notes. Full flavoured with a smooth texture, silky tannins, and a long, satisfying finish. Good rains in the autumn of 2019 built the soil water reserves. The mild, dry winter meant flowering and bud break took place early. A dry, hot summer, without heat spikes, resulted in a long ripening season, and the vines drew water from their winter reserves to prevent hydric stress. Cooling breezes kept the vineyards fresh and in a good sanitary state. The grapes were harvested under excellent conditions, resulting in healthy grapes. The reds are aromatic, have good acidity and purity of fruit, and have silky tannins and balancing freshness.
Winemaker Sevrine Lemoine, as a non-interventionist, looks for finesse and silky tannins rather than over-extraction. The grapes were hand-harvested at optimum maturity and sorted to ensure only the highest quality fruit was vinified. Each variety was fermented separately with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, lasting for three weeks. 20% of the blend was matured in a barrel, imparting subtle complexity.

| Winery | Lirac is an appellation on the western side of the southern Rhone Valley. Domaine de Cigalounes is a seven-hectare property certified organic since 2012. It is located on the rocky plateau between the villages of Tavel and Lirac, on the opposite bank of the Rhone from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre vines are grown according to traditional methods in red soils, which are rich in iron and minerals and have pebbly topsoil. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably, respecting the terroir's environment, soil and biodiversity. |
