  • It is a stunning and aromatic wine, with notes of red fruit and Morello cherry complemented by elegant oaked spice. This classic cornas has a round, textured palate enveloped in luscious deep black cherry flavours. It is a wine of great finesse with a long, exquisite finish. It is an opulent and complex wine with intense flavours of black fruits, liquorice, wild herbs, and fresh mineral and graphite notes.

The grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and lightly pressed. Vinification took place in closed stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 30 and 32°C. The maceration process lasted for 12 to 15 days until the desired levels of colour and flavour were extracted. The wine was then transferred to vats (50%) and French oak barrels (50%) of which 25% were new. The wine underwent malolactic conversion and was bottled after 18 months ageing in oak.

This classic Cornas has a round and textured palate enveloped in luscious deep black cherry flavours, with subtle spice and delicate oak notes. A wine of great finesse with a long, exquisite finish.

Situated on the right bank of the river Rhone, not far from the city of Valence, the site of Cornas combines the factors of a 'Grand Terroir'. This one hectare Cornas La Sabarotte vineyard is situated at 70 metres above sea level and is considered to be among the very best sites of the appellation. It has very old, low yielding vines which were mostly planted in 1947 (some are even older). The soil is a thin decomposed granite-limestone layer over solid granite rock, which has poor fertility and is free draining, encouraging the vine to develop strong root systems. The site is perfectly orientated to the south east optimising the influence of the sun on the ripening vines.
