Based in the historic heart of Prosecco production, the Valdobbiadene-Conegliano Superiore DOCG makes wines with a strong sense of identity, full of freshness, fragrance, and a level of complexity that is rare for this region. The sheer drinkability of their DOC bottling is impressive enough. Still, it is the DOCG wines and in particular, the single-vineyard Vigneto del Fae, made without dosage, that highlights the ambition of this benchmark producer.
Appearance: pale straw, bright and lively with abundant froth and a fine, elegant perlage.
Nose: apple and fresh floral notes of wisteria and acacia.
Palate: balanced, elegant and structured.

It is excellent as an aperitif and lovely with fish starters, salads, crudités, and starters such as fish risotto.

The name, meaning ‘small cellar’ in the local dialect, is a testament to the boutique origins of this now prestigious producer. Canevel Spumanti was founded by Mario Caramel in 1979, a known expert and admirer of the sector. The company’s mission is to produce excellent spumante in Valdobbiadene. Canevel means ‘little wine cellar’ in the local dialect. Canevel bases itself on the far-sighted vision of integrating the entire production chain and managing the vinification and production of sparkling wine. Canevel owns 26 hectares of selected land in the Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG area. Since September 2016, Canevel has been part of the Masi Agricola Group. |
