French Red

Red Wines from prestigious Bordeaux, classic and new wave Burgundy, to the premium wines of Languedoc and beyond. France is recognised as the most prominent wine producing countries in the world, whose winemakers are ever developing styles, aging vessels and grape varieties. Château Batailley The vineyards of Batailley today comprise about 60 hectares, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. Batailley is the flagship of the family Castéja and Borie-Manoux. The name is derived from a battle fought on this territory during the 100-years war in the 14th century. Batailley's wine is an intensive Pauillac typically with blackcurrant and a robust body. The wine continues to obtain very high rankings and recommendations from the international wine press. Château du Domaine de L'Église Domaine de l'Eglise is the oldest estate on Pomerol's famous plateau, first mentioned in the Vieux Papiers du Libournaisin 1589. Originally the property of the church, the estate was secularised in the 18th century. Domaine de l'Eglise lies next to Pomerol's church a stones throw away from Château Petrus. In 1973 the château was acquired by the Castéja family. The round, fruity Domaine de l'Eglise wine has been among the most sought after in Pomerol for many years. Château Lestrille Château Lestrille is located at the northern point of the Entre-deux-Mers appellation in the small town of St. Germain du Puch between Libourne and Bordeaux. Passionate and dedicated winemaker Estelle Roumage makes modern, elegant wines from sustainably cultivated grapes. The estate is certified with the High Environmental Value Level 3 and Estelle believes the essence of winemaking lies in the vineyard itself; placing considerable emphasis on respecting the balance of the soil. Each plot on the 45-hectare property is vinified separately with tailor-made precision and minimal intervention to respect and optimise the characteristics of the vintage and terroir, creating charming wines with the utmost appeal. Domaine de la Solitude Wines have been made on this estate for several hundred years, dating back to 1264 when the family arrived from Italy to serve the pope in Avignon. The three hats depicted on the label, signifies two bishops and a pope, who were among the forefathers of the Lançon family. The 38-hectare domain in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation is now run by Florent Lançon, who cultivates the estate sustainably, as certified by Terra Vitis. Florent, who is passionate about innovative winemaking, while honouring traditional values, has recently started working with new tulip-shaped concrete vats which were initially designed for Cheval Blanc and are at the cutting edge of winemaking technology. Domaine de la Solitude’s wines are renowned for their characteristic elegance whilst expressing the true origins of their terroir.
