Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy Cote d'Or. It is located in the far north of the Cotes de Nuits. The grapes for this cuvee come from the single vineyard Meix Bas, which is made up of crinoidal limestone and sandy marls; effective bedding for Pinot Noir. The lieu-dit of Meix Bas is just 50 metres away from the Premier Cru vineyards of Gevrey Chambertin. The continental climate has cold winters and warm summers, with cool nights, allowing the vines to produce balanced fruit with natural freshness. The vines are in conversion to organic status; weeds are controlled by cultivating the soil and chemical herbicides are not used. Only organic and natural products are employed to protect the vines against insects. The grapes are hand harvested at optimal maturity.
