Grapes and Winemaking Process
The Kydonitsa grape is the star of this wine, and its name, which means quince in Greek, perfectly describes its aromatic profile. The 2023 vintage is a single varietal wine, ensuring that the pure expression of Kydonitsa shines through. With 13% ABV, the wine has a light, refreshing character, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a dry yet flavorful white wine. The dry classification, with a residual sugar of 1, offers a crisp and balanced mouthfeel, ideal for pairing with a variety of dishes.
The grapes are handpicked and carefully vinified by George Tsimpides, the skilled winemaker behind the Monemvasia Winery. This ensures that every bottle reflects the unique conditions of the Laconian terroir. The wine undergoes a fermentation process that highlights its natural fruitiness, leaving behind a wine that is both creamy and fresh, with an elegant complexity.

Winery | Kydonitsa is a rare, old local variety and one of the components of the legendary wine Malvasia. The vineyard is located on the peninsula of Maleus at the foothills of the Parnonas Mountain range at an altitude of 80 metres above sea level. Surrounded by the Myrtoo Sea to the North West and the Laconian Gulf to the South West, the vineyard is influenced by a Mediterranean climate with high sunshine hours and coastal sea breezes. The soils are clay loam and rich in minerals. All these factors contribute to creating a unique terroir, and the climatic conditions present an ideal environment for healthy vines, which are cultivated organically. |
