Chilean White Wine's main production is situated between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, which offers a diversity of wine production, making for truly exciting wines. Chile's position as the value champion of the world remains intact, but the discovery of new regions and their careful matching to specific grape varieties has opened up a wealth of premium possibilities in just a decade.
Undurraga
Undurraga is one of Chile’s most prestigious wineries, consistently receiving high scores from top wine critics. Founded in 1885, Undurraga owns 1,350 hectares of estate vineyard in Chile’s premium wine-producing areas such as Leyda, Cauquenes and Itata and is certified by Sustainable Wines of Chile. Head winemaker Rafael Urrejola has spent much time researching and understanding the diversity of Chile’s vineyard sites; the result is the emblematic ‘Terroir Hunter’ range. Undurraga cultivates its vineyards with respect for the environment and follows a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar to showcase the terroir. In 2023, Rafael became the first Chilean winemaker to be awarded ‘Red Winemaker of the Year 2023' by the prestigious International Wine Challenge (IWC).
Viña Echeverría
Viña Echeverría is a family-run estate winery owned and managed by the Echeverría family. Established in 1930 but with an agricultural heritage from the 1700s, Viña Echeverría is as much today as always, driven by a shared passion for winemaking and an uncompromising search for excellence. Viña Echeverría combines nearly a century of viticulture and winemaking experience with a modern state-of-the-art winery to produce an extensive collection of quality wines. The 'No es Pituko' range represents a radical departure from the rest of the more traditional Echeverría wines, both in look and make-up, being vinified naturally, without any additions at any stage. Viña Echeverría has recently been awarded its Sustainable Winery status by Wines of Chile and its ISO9000 certification.
Viña Ventolera
Ventolera is an exciting new venture between founder Vicente Izquierdo and one of Chile's top winemakers, Stefano Gandolini. The vineyard, which was planted in 1999, is located in the region of the Leyda Valley, just six kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. The area is being singled out as Chile's newest and most radical cool-climate wine region, strongly influenced by the cooling effects of the Humboldt Current that flows up from the Antarctic. ‘Ventolera’ is a Spanish word which refers to this strong sea wind; its cooling influence is instrumental in producing wonderfully elegant wines.
