Overview
The Louis Jadot Ladoix Le Clou d’Orge Blanc 2022 is a stunning expression of Chardonnay from one of the most prestigious wine regions in France, the Cote de Beaune. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay, this wine is a true reflection of its unique terroir and centuries-old winemaking tradition. With an ABV of 13.50%, it strikes a harmonious balance between freshness, richness, and depth.
Region & Terroir
The Ladoix appellation lies at the foot of the famous Corton Hill, known for its complex and diverse soils. This particular site, with its 20-year-old vines, was once a barley field before being converted to vineyard land. The marl soils here contribute to the wine's minerality, while the site’s exposure ensures the right level of ripeness for optimal fruit expression. The vineyard's name, "Le Clou d’Orge," pays homage to its barley origins, adding a unique layer of history to this fine wine.

Winery | A season of extreme summer temperatures and one of the hottest and sunniest on record led to lower yields. However, despite low yields, the quality and concentration are outstanding, with wines of great character. Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases so as not to damage the fruits. Grapes are pressed softly; they ferment in oak barrels our cooperage produces. 1/3 are new barrels. Ageing usually lasts 15 months on fine lines before bottling. |
