Overview of Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024
The Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024 is a remarkable expression of one of South Africa's most prized wine regions—Stellenbosch. Hailing from a farm with rich historical significance, Lievland was established in 1934 when Baron and Baroness Von Stiernhjelm acquired the estate. Today, under the ownership of renowned South African wine industry leaders José Conde and Tyrrel Myburgh, the estate has undergone a revival, with extensive replanting and cellar reconstruction. Located on the northwestern slopes of the iconic Simonsberg Mountain, the vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate. This area, known for its cooler-than-usual conditions for Stellenbosch, creates the perfect environment for producing premium wines that express both finesse and depth.
The 2024 Lievlander Chenin Blanc showcases the versatility and high-quality potential of Chenin Blanc in Stellenbosch, offering vibrant fruit flavors, excellent acidity, and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Tasting Notes
The Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024 offers a bright, golden-yellow hue in the glass. On the nose, aromas of citrus zest, white peach, and a hint of floral blossom greet the senses, while a subtle minerality adds complexity. The palate is crisp and well-structured, with lively flavours of green apple, lemon, and a touch of honeyed richness. Balanced acidity brings freshness, while a clean, refreshing finish leaves a lasting impression.
Perfect Pairings
This wine pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. Enjoy it alongside seafood like grilled shrimp, oysters, or a fresh seafood salad. It's also a perfect match for poultry, particularly chicken roasted with citrus and herbs. For a lighter pairing, enjoy with goat cheese or fresh summer salads.
The Lievland Estate and Winemaking Philosophy
Lievland's commitment to quality is clear in the careful cultivation of each vine. With its cooler climate and north-western slope position, the vineyard produces grapes with optimal balance and character. The winery's modern techniques, combined with traditional South African wine culture, ensure that every bottle reflects the estate's passion for excellence.

Winery | Lievland is one of Stellenbosch’s most historically important farms, and the property in its current form dates back to 1934, when Baron and Baroness Von Stiernhjelm purchased it from Latvia. In late 2017, José Conde and Tyrrel Myburgh, two of the South African wine industry’s leading lights, purchased the estate, and they have since set about an extensive re-planting program and re-constructing the cellars. The farm is located in a favourable position on the north-western slope of Simonsberg Mountain, and its sheltered position, with cooler-than-average conditions for Stellenbosch, is ideal for high-quality wine production. |
