Winery | Situated on the right bank of the river Rhone, not far from the city of Valence, the site of Cornas combines the factors of a 'Grand Terroir'. This one-hectare Cornas La Sabarotte vineyard is situated at 70 metres above sea level and is considered among the best sites of the appellation. It has ancient, low-yielding vines, mostly planted in 1947 (some are even older). The soil is a thin decomposed granite-limestone layer over solid granite rock, which has poor fertility and is free draining, encouraging the vine to develop strong root systems. The site is perfectly orientated to the south-east, optimising the sun's influence on the ripening vines. |
