Exceptional Grand Cru Burgundy with Proven Cellaring Potential
The Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru 2007 is a benchmark expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most revered producers. A wine of remarkable depth and elegance, this vintage delivers everything expected from a top-tier Grand Cru: refined power, earthy complexity, and long-term ageability. Unlike the Clos St. Jacques or the Chambertin Clos de Bèze from the same year, the Chambertin 2007 has already fully integrated its oak, allowing the wine’s natural character to shine through.
Crafted from old vines in the historic Chambertin vineyard, this wine reveals a precise structure and a mineral-driven backbone. Expect an aromatic profile of pure red Pinot fruit, exotic spices, hints of forest floor, and subtle gamey undertones—hallmarks of great terroir and traditional winemaking. The palate is broad yet tightly focused, with textured tannins and a linear progression into a finish that is profoundly long and deeply etched.
94 Points – Allen Meadows, Burghound (1/2010)
"The Cham has already eaten its wood, allowing the spicy, pure, elegant, and restrained red pinot fruit with animal hints and ample mineral notes to dissolve seamlessly into dusty, textured, precise and palate-staining big-bodied flavours… both this and the Bèze are sensational."

While still vibrant and youthful, the 2007 vintage offers enough integration and tertiary complexity to drink now, particularly with proper decanting. Yet its structure and acidity promise further rewards for those who cellar.

Winery | By contrast to the Clos St. Jacques and the Beze, the Cham has already eaten its wood, which allows free rein for the spicy, pure, elegant, and restrained earthy red pinot fruit with animal hints and ample mineral notes to dissolve seamlessly into dusty, textured, precise and palate staining big-bodied flavours that are exceptionally tight on the linear but hugely long finish. The Beze appears to have slightly better underlying material, but we'll see in time as both are sensational, plus the Cham has a long-demonstrated ability to add weight to the bottle. |
