- A pale, star-bright straw colour is shot with greenish highlights, showing a persistent mousse of fine bubbles. A fresh and aromatic nose of fragrant golden delicious apple and ripe pears combines with warm crusty bread tones. The aromatic palate is harmoniously rounded, with a delicate touch of citrus and a very long finish.
This wine is crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes. The vinification was traditional with the fermentation taking place off the skins, following a very soft crushing. The secondary fermentation occurred at 14°C in vertical pressure tanks the following spring. The wine remained on its fine lees for five to six months, imparting extra richness and texture to the resulting wine. This extended yeast autolysis of this Marinotti method is Il Grigio Spumante's seal of quality.

Winery | The Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio vines are grown on the hillsides and flatlands of Friuli Venezia Giulia, yielding approximately 85 to 90 quintals per hectare. Guyot and spur Cordon trained, the vines are planted at an average density of 4,600 per hectare and grown in chalky soils. The Collio region, a strip of hills bordering Slovenia, is reputed to have one of Europe's most privileged micro-climates for white wines, while the red wines are also noted for their appeal. Founded by Eugenio Collavini in 1896, Manlio Collavini and his three sons now run this family-owned house. Located in Udine, they were among the first to vinify Ribolla Gialla- an ancient local variety- and to implement new winemaking technologies. Collavini prides itself on its clean, modern-style wines while still retaining the traditions and grape varieties native to the area. Collavini's 'Broy' is a multiple Tre Bicchieri winner recognized as one of Italy's top white wines. As keen dog lovers, the Collavini’s first pet Dachshund 'Ribolla' is portrayed on the label. |
