Buy Yalumba The Caley 2015 – Premium Cabernet Shiraz Wine from Australia

Yalumba’s flagship wine, The Caley, celebrates the fusion of cool-climate precision with bold, warm-climate richness. The 2015 vintage showcases an exceptional growing season, resulting in an intensely flavoured, finely textured red wine with excellent ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

This wine presents a very deep, dense red hue. The nose is lifted with bright floral notes, red cherry, redcurrant, oyster shell, leafy stalks, and subtle herbaceous elements—hallmarks of premium Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The Barossa Shiraz component contributes depth, plush fruit and a savoury undertone.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a core of engaging ripe fruit, finely structured tannins, and a densely layered profile. The mouthfeel is polished, with a long, elegant finish underscored by finesse and complexity.

In 1847, a 37-year-old brewer called Samuel Smith left his home in Wareham, Dorset, with his wife Mary and their four children. Boarding a simple three-masted barque they left Plymouth and began the long and arduous journey to Australia, arriving in Port Adelaide. From there, they trekked north to Angaston, where Samuel worked as a gardener. Arguably, this brave decision to start a new life in a remote and distant land, together with the hardship they endured, formed the strong sense of family unity that has been the bedrock of the family business ever since. In 1849, he started the wine farm that would grow over the next 5 generations to become one of Australia’s leading wineries, with an internationally recognised and respected winemaking culture. To embrace the native culture, Samuel adopted a local name for his farm, calling it “Yalumba”, meaning “all the country around’’ in the indigenous Peramangk language.
