A Magnificent Expression of Burgundy: William Fevre Bougros Grand Cru 2022

The William Fevre Bougros Grand Cru 2022 is an exceptional Chardonnay hailing from the prestigious Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy, France. This white wine showcases the true essence of the region, offering a remarkable balance of power, elegance, and complexity.

With a rich bouquet that exudes intense mineral notes, this wine impresses from the first aroma to the last drop. On the palate, it is full-bodied and round, yet maintains a firm and massive structure that gives it a lasting impression of depth and longevity. The interplay between ripe fruit flavours and the minerality that is a signature of Bougros creates a unique tasting experience that will captivate even the most discerning wine lovers.

The 2022 vintage of this Grand Cru is the epitome of craftsmanship, presenting a wine that will evolve beautifully with age but is also enjoyable in its youth for those who prefer a more vibrant expression of Burgundy's finest terroirs.

Food and Wine Pairing: The Perfect Match

The William Fevre Bougros Grand Cru 2022 pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. It complements the delicate flavours of fish, shellfish, and other seafood, particularly when prepared with a cream sauce or grilled to perfection. Its rich and full-bodied character also pairs beautifully with poultry and white meats, especially those cooked in creamy sauces.

The perfect pairing for this exquisite Chardonnay is a Breton lobster salad, where the wine’s minerality harmonizes with the sweet, briny flavors of fresh lobster, creating a truly memorable dining experience.

Serving Temperature and Cellaring Potential

To enjoy this wine at its best, serve it between 12°C and 14°C, allowing the wine to reveal its full array of aromas and flavours. While the wine is already a pleasure to drink in its youth, it has the potential to age gracefully over the next several years, with its firm structure and balanced acidity promising continued development.

William Fèvre is one of Chablis’ greatest estates, created by William Fèvre between 1957 and his retirement in 1998 when he sold the domain to Champagne House. Joseph Henriot. Beginning with just 7 hectares and growing gradually to 48 hectares, planting in the best of the Premier and Grand Cru sites where the vineyards had fallen into disrepair. The talented Didier Séguier came in as Head Winemaker from Bouchard Pere et Fils in Beaune. The domain wines include 12 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards and 16 hectares of Grand Cru. The whole crop of their domaine wines, straight Chablis included, is harvested by hand, the grands crus in small ‘cassettes’, with a sorting table back at the winery to ensure the quality of the raw material. In 2023, the domain was purchased by Domaines Baron de Rothschild (Lafite), led by Saskia de Rothschild.
