Winery | Cannonau is a late-ripening variety which thrives in the hot, dry conditions of Sardinia. The vines are grown in warm seaside vineyards with sandy soils and vineyards not far from the sea, which are caressed by the northeast winds and have a moderating effect. The climate is typically Mediterranean, which is positively influenced by the proximity of the sea, with mild warm, dry summers and favourable diurnal temperature differences. The sea breezes, which are often rich in saltiness, combined with the proximity to the sea, impart the wines with saline notes and minerality. The vines are trained according to spurred cordon methods and have an average age of 15 years. They are planted at a density of 4,444 to 4,545 vines per hectare. The vineyard is cultivated sustainably; the vines are surrounded by Mediterranean scrubland to encourage biodiversity. Integrated management is used to combat vine pests. |
