Wine Overview:
The Pelissero Tulin Langhe Barbaresco 2021 is a classic expression of the Barbaresco DOCG, showcasing the distinctive terroir of Piedmont. This elegant red wine is crafted exclusively from Nebbiolo, offering an exceptional balance of finesse and power. Its deep, mineral-driven character is enhanced by a bouquet of perfumed aromas, including red fruits, delicate rose petals, and tea, accompanied by harmonious oak notes. The palate is framed by refined tannins that provide structure and length, making it a wine that ages beautifully but is equally rewarding in its youth.
Vintage Notes:
The 2021 growing season began with a mild winter, characterised by little rainfall and snow. Spring started off dry and sunny, hinting at an early harvest. However, rainfall in May and June slowed down the development of the vines. Despite this, the rainy period also ensured adequate soil moisture for the summer. The real highlight of the vintage came in September, with a dry and mild climate that allowed the Nebbiolo grapes to ripen perfectly, ensuring the wine's outstanding quality. The result is a wine that combines both freshness and depth, with a distinct minerality that defines its profile.

Food Pairing Recommendations:
Pelissero Tulin Langhe Barbaresco 2021 pairs beautifully with classic Piedmontese dishes such as risotto with truffle, braised beef, or roasted game meats. The wine’s refined tannins and bright acidity also make it an excellent companion to aged cheeses, particularly taleggio or pecorino.

Winery | The Cascina Tolina vineyard is located in the villages of Treiso and Neviglie in DOCG Barbaresco. It covers a single contiguous plot, uncommon in the Langhe, and comprises almost an entire hill, shaped in a natural amphitheatre, with altitudes ranging from 250 to 350 meters. The Guyot-trained vines face south to southeast, providing optimum exposure to sunlight. They were planted in 1950 at a density of 4,000 vines per hectare and in 2001 at 5,000 vines per hectare. The steeper slopes have a harder, more compact subsoil, with a very shallow layer of topsoil that is more vulnerable to erosion. The soils are rich in magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium microelements. They are ideal for producing austere, tannic wines rich in structure and mineral aromas. In short, they are the classic soil suitable for Nebbiolo. Tulin probably refers to someone who owned or lived on this property in the past: in the Piedmontese dialect, the word ‘Tulin’ means a small tin container, and the “tulé” was the tinsmith. |
