Overview of Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024
Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024 is a stunning representation of South Africa’s winemaking heritage, crafted in the heart of the Stellenbosch region. Known for its rich history, Lievland Wine Estate has been a key player in Stellenbosch's winemaking for decades, with its origins dating back to 1934. The estate was revived in late 2017 when José Conde and Tyrrel Myburgh, both influential figures in the South African wine industry, took the helm. Their extensive efforts in replanting vineyards and renovating the estate's cellars have resulted in the creation of wines of exceptional quality.
Nestled on the northwestern slope of the Simonsberg Mountain, the farm benefits from a cooler-than-average climate for the Stellenbosch area. This unique microclimate allows for the production of wines with a balance of freshness, minerality, and depth, making it ideal for cultivating Chenin Blanc, one of the most versatile and celebrated grape varieties in South Africa.
Tasting Notes
The Lievlander Chenin Blanc 2024 is a vibrant and expressive white wine with a beautifully layered profile. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe tropical fruits, including pineapple, guava, and hints of citrus zest, along with subtle floral undertones. On the palate, it delivers a rich mouthfeel, with flavours of honeyed fruit and a touch of stone fruit. The wine’s crisp acidity ensures a refreshing finish, making it a perfect pairing for seafood, fresh salads, or a variety of light dishes. Its well-balanced structure and minerality reflect the unique terroir of the Simonsberg Mountain.

Winery | Lievland is one of Stellenbosch’s most historically important farms, and the property in its current form dates back to 1934 when Baron and Baroness Von Stiernhjelm purchased it from Latvia. In late 2017, Jose Conde and Tyrrel Myburgh, two of the South African wine industry’s leading lights, purchased the estate, and they have since set about an extensive re-planting program and re-constructing the cellars. The farm is located in a favourable position on the north-western slope of Simonsberg Mountain, and its sheltered position, with cooler-than-average conditions for Stellenbosch, is ideal for high-quality wine production. |
