Wine Description:
The Richard Kershaw G.P.S. Series Lower Duivenhoks River Chardonnay 2018 is a stunning example of cool-climate Chardonnay, meticulously crafted by Richard Kershaw MW. Hailing from the picturesque Lower Duivenhoks River in South Africa’s Western Cape, this wine offers exceptional freshness and complexity. The 2018 vintage is marked by vibrant, citrus-driven aromas of lemon blossom and wet chalk, which effortlessly transition into a penetratingly intense palate. Rich in texture yet beautifully balanced by a backbone of bright acidity, it reveals layered flavours of orange peel, peach, and grapefruit peel, with a subtle hint of lemon cream biscuits. The wine finishes with a long, mineral-driven aftertaste that lingers, reflecting the region’s unique terroir.
This Chardonnay exemplifies restraint and elegance, making it a great choice for those who appreciate wines with depth and freshness. Its complexity and balance make it a versatile wine for pairing with seafood, poultry, or creamy pasta dishes.

Winery | The G.P.S. (Grape Positioning System) series is made from exciting small parcels of fruit selected from carefully chosen vineyards outside the Elgin Valley. The Chardonnay grapes come from a small parcel of vines grown as a single vineyard block in the Lower Duivenhoks River district in the Western Cape. The pure limestone soil is a rarity in the Western Cape; it is a soil in which Chardonnay flourishes and produces elegant, fresh wines. The Dijon clone CY95 vines thrive in this warm Mediterranean climate, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Duivenhoks River. The wide diurnal temperature ranges create a long hang time during which the grape cluster stays connected to its roots for longer, developing complex characteristics and gradually achieving physiological ripeness balanced by natural acidity. |
