Wine Description:
The Gaja Barolo Dagromis 2018 Magnum is a striking and elegant Barolo that masterfully blends two of the most revered terroirs in the Barolo region: La Morra and Serralunga. With its remarkable complexity, this wine reflects the harmony between the power of Serralunga and the grace of La Morra, creating a captivating, intense Barolo that offers a solid body and a rich, velvety softness.
The wine opens with a dry sensation on the palate, derived from the oak, but this soon softens, revealing the full potential of its fine, noticeable tannins. The Gaja Barolo Dagromis 2018 is still in the early stages of its development, yet its harmonious complexity promises an exceptional ageing potential, making it an excellent choice for collectors. With time, this wine will continue to bloom, revealing an even more refined balance of structure and elegance.
A wine of this caliber does not only captivate in taste but also in its deep-rooted history. The name "Dagromis" is a tribute to the Gromis family, who once owned a vineyard in the blend, and the wine truly speaks to the spirit of the land that has been cultivated for generations.
The wine offers a long finish that lingers on the palate, making it a standout choice for any special occasion or wine connoisseur's collection.

Winery | Today, the Gaja winery comprises 103 hectares of vineyard in the Langhe and is run by Angelo, his wife Lucia, and their children Gaia, Rossana, and Giovanni. The wines have never been better. Since the move back to DOP status for his Cru wines (‘Sorì San Lorenzo’, ‘Costa Russi’ and ‘Sorì Tildìn’ in Barbaresco and ‘Sperss’ in Barolo) from the 2013 vintage, the wines have displayed an inefffable elegance and remain among the very best of the region. The exceptional ‘Spress Barolo is sourced from a vineyard in Serralunga, which neighbours Massolino’s ‘Margheria’ and ‘Vigna Rionda’. It is rivalled only by the ‘Sorì Tildìn’ and ‘Sorì San Lorenzo’ Barbaresco’s, which consistently impress from vintage to vintage. In addition to Gaja’s Nebbiolo-based wines, they also make a very fine Sauvignon Blanc ‘Alteni di Brassica’ and the outstanding ‘Rossj Bass’ and ‘Gaia & Rey’ Chardonnays. |
