Winery | The Aglianico grapes come from hillside vineyards up to 700 metres above sea level. Here, the Apennine nature of the Irpinian terroir is fully revealed. The vicinity of the Picentini Mountains, combined with the continental climate, which is cool, with cleansing breezes and beneficial rainfall, create the conditions for a genuine foothill vine-growing region. Though brief, the winters are snowy and cold, while the summers are warm and prolonged. The Guyot-trained vines, which are around 20 years in age, are planted in marl and calcareous soils on hills that enjoy excellent sun exposure and are well-ventilated. The vineyards are cultivated using ecological practices to maintain the equilibrium of the environment; soil and fertilizer management strategies are employed, pesticides are not used, and biodiversity is positively encouraged. The vines are hand-harvested. |
