A Remarkable Single-Vineyard Californian Pinot Noir with Elegance and Power

Experience the captivating Donelan Cushing's Block Pinot Noir 2017, a benchmark expression of Bennett Valley Pinot Noir that masterfully balances ripe fruit intensity with vibrant elegance. Crafted from meticulously farmed vines at the Barbed Oak Vineyard, this vintage reflects the essence of California’s cool-climate terroir, elevated by expert winemaking.

Winemaking: Small Batch Precision with French Oak Influence

This single-vineyard Pinot Noir undergoes native-yeast fermentation in small batches, promoting purity and site expression. Aged for 17 months in 44% new French oak, the wine gains depth, structure, and an elegant texture that frames its opulent fruit profile. The longer hang time at this naturally early-ripening site in Bennett Valley delivered exceptional balance and nuanced complexity.

Tasting Notes: Rich Dark Fruit and Exotic Spices

Aromas:
Lush, enveloping scents of ripe blackberry, kirsch, and rich plum sauce rise from the glass, drawing you in with their opulence.

Palate:
The palate is layered and seductive, offering concentrated dark fruits accented by exotic spice, subtle earthiness, and spring flowers. Despite the fruit intensity, a streak of freshness keeps the wine lifted and precise, with velvety tannins and a long, graceful finish.

This vintage showcases everything that makes Donelan Family Wines so revered: thoughtful farming, restrained winemaking, and an unwavering focus on site expression.

Named after Joe Donelan’s second son, Cushing’s Block Pinot Noir contains lush aromas of ripe blackberry, kirsch, and plum sauce. Richness and freshness on the palate make this Bennett Valley vineyard wine irresistible. This Pinot Noir is heavily influenced by concentrated dark fruit, but there is also a beautiful mix of exotic spices and spring flowers.
