A Bold Expression of Gevrey Chambertin
The Domaine Pierre Naigeon Creux Brouillard Gevrey Chambertin 2020 is a robust and flavourful wine that encapsulates the essence of Burgundy’s famed Gevrey-Chambertin region. Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine is a testament to the region’s rich winemaking tradition, offering both depth and elegance.
On the nose, it opens with a charming bouquet of violet and red cherry aromas, inviting you to explore its complex structure. The palate is greeted with chunky black cherry fruit and an opulent touch of prunes and chocolate, creating a harmonious balance between savoury and sweet notes. This wine is a perfect example of a Gevrey-Chambertin with a delicate freshness and smooth texture, making it both approachable and sophisticated.
The 2020 Growing Season: A Unique Vintage
The 2020 vintage was defined by an unusually mild winter and a clement spring, which set the stage for an early growing season. With warm weather leading to an early budburst and flowering, the growing conditions favoured a rapid and early harvest. Despite a hot, dry summer and low rainfall, which resulted in arid conditions, cleansing winds helped protect the vines from disease. As a result, this vintage produced wines with excellent balance, texture, and structure – the hallmark of a well-crafted Burgundy.
