A Rare and Refined Grand Cru Burgundy with Provenance and Prestige
The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echézeaux Grand Cru 2000 is a benchmark vintage from one of the most legendary producers in Burgundy. With two decades of maturation under its belt, this wine exemplifies the grace, complexity, and longevity for which DRC is revered.
Noticeably bricking at the rim, it still maintains a vibrant ruby core. The aromatic profile is enthralling—lifting from the glass with sous-bois, ripe blackberries, violets, earthy undertones, and exotic Asian spices. On the palate, the wine is richly layered and intensely flavoured, with concentrated fruit, soft floral nuances, and savoury depth. Tannins have largely resolved, delivering a seamless mouthfeel and a long, elegant finish that leaves a memorable impression.
This vintage is now fully mature and drinking beautifully. A rare opportunity to own a cellar-stored Grand Cru Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, presented in its original wooden case.

Winery | It is noticeably bricking, though, with a still healthy ruby core. An expressive nose offers notes of sous-bois, ripe black fruits, and perfumed aromas of fresh flowers, Asian spices, and earth. There is a good focus on the rich, solidly well-concentrated, and relatively powerful flavours, balanced and harmonious while terminating in a focused and impressively lingering finish where the supporting tannins are largely resolved. For my taste, this has peaked, though it should continue to hold at this level for another decade, perhaps even longer. 93 points Allen Meadows, Burghound, Mar 2023, now+ |
