| Winery | The grapes come from a single vineyard, 'Ciafone', located in the Piceno area of the Falerio DOC, in the south of the Marche region. The vineyard is situated at an elevation of 200 to 300 metres above sea level, where sea breezes from the Adriatic Sea gently influence it. A Mediterranean climate is found throughout the region, with an average annual rainfall of 800 millimetres falls mainly during the winter months, building soil water reserves to nourish the vines throughout the typically hot and dry summers. The rich clay content in the soil also helps to retain soil moisture. The vines are planted at a density of 4,500 per hectare and are trained using the simple curtain method. The vineyards are cultivated following organic principles; herbicides and pesticides are not used, and the grapes are manually harvested when they have reached optimal ripeness. |
