Tasting Notes – What Does Zorzal Parcelario Malbec Taste Like?

This is a fine, elegant Malbec that balances concentration with freshness. Aromas of ripe blackberries, blueberries, and black cherries intertwine with subtle hints of mountain herbs, graphite, and a distinct chalky minerality. The palate is fluid and precise, delivering polished tannins and vibrant acidity, with a long, energetic finish. Expect a wine with both depth and finesse, making it a benchmark example of Gualtallary Malbec.

Why Buy Zorzal Parcelario Gualtallary Malbec 2023?

  • Sustainable winemaking: Native yeast fermentation, minimal intervention

  • Award-winning producer: Zorzal wines are internationally acclaimed and highly rated

The Vineyard – Gualtallary, Uco Valley

Situated at the foot of the Tupungato volcano, the vineyard benefits from calcareous soils, strong diurnal temperature swings (35°C to 17°C), and low rainfall. These conditions foster grapes with intense flavour concentration, excellent polyphenolic maturity, and natural acidity. The Michelini brothers, pioneers of modern Argentinian winemaking, harness this site’s unique attributes using low-intervention techniques to craft terroir-driven wines that have gained global recognition.

The 'Parcelario' collection of wines captures the essence of the terroir with precision and
respect. They are made from single parcels, which reflect the place, landscape, and
the unique character of each vintage. A true expression of the land and time. The
grapes are grown in a high-altitude parcel in Gualtallary, in the outstanding vinegrowing area of the Uco Valley. Located at 1,350 metres above sea level, Gualtallary is
the highest vine-growing zone in the Province of Mendoza, situated at the foot of the
Tupungato Volcano. This site is characterised by its combination of altitude, a high
content of calcium carbonate in the soil, sunny days and low rainfall. The diurnal
temperature ranges here oscillate between 35°C and 17°C, creating long, slow
ripening periods, encouraging excellent polyphenolic maturity in the grapes, while
retaining refreshing balance. The vines are trained on trellises, which provides good
homogeneity, and the grapes are hand-harvested in boxes of 16kg.
