Yalumba The Caley Cabernet Shiraz 2018 is a masterful blend of 71% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Barossa Shiraz, capturing the essence of Australia’s finest wine regions. Produced by the esteemed Yalumba winery, this flagship release exemplifies the highest level of craftsmanship in Australian winemaking.

Tasting Notes

This vintage showcases intense, dense red hues and a deeply aromatic bouquet. The nose reveals bright floral notes, red cherry, oyster shell, leafy green stalks, and fresh redcurrants—characteristics that are distinctly Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering ripe fruit flavours balanced by a densely layered structure and silky, persistent tannins.

Matured for 21 months in 25% new French oak barriques, with the balance in seasoned French barriques and hogsheads, this wine offers excellent balance between oak influence and varietal purity. Structured for longevity, this wine will age gracefully for decades, but is also drinking beautifully now with appropriate decanting.

The Caley matured for 21 months in 25% new Yalumba coopered French barriques, with a balance of 2 years and older French barriques. Once bottled on 2 May 2018, the wine was hidden in our marble cellars for 36 months and released on 1 June 2021. The palate reveals a very defined wine, cool and inviting. Medium to full depth with a densely layered structure and warmth, delivering a prominent yet silky tannin profile
