| Winery | Tauleto is a dialect term applied by local farmers to a plot with abundant water resources. The springs running under the Sangiovese in the Tauleto vineyard minimise water stress in the vines. The blend includes Uva Longanesi, an almost-forgotten native variety that has been rediscovered and revived. It produces wines with high tannins and a flavour profile of cherry and strawberry, with vanilla and liquorice overtones. The average age of the vines is 20 years, producing a yield of 6.5 tonnes per hectare. The soil is rich in clay, which offers good water retention properties to nourish the vine during the warm, dry summers. Tauleto is Umberto Cesari's flagship wine and is only produced in the finest vintages. |
